After the storm

After the storm

A Poem by David Dodsworth

Debris scatters the beach, resembling the aftermath of a great war

creatures from the abyss lay dying, like soldiers on the battlefield

Slowly  the sun breaks through, the now fading darkness above

Deathly  silence is bone chilling, broken only by a solitary gull

crying  for the dead,

as he flies higher and higher, then into the sun

Mother nature rests,Weary and tired from the battle she won

The reaper was here, collecting the souls of the dead,

Patiently waiting. for the injured to draw there last breath

everthing has gone nothing remains, only memories of how it was

From the destruction a new day is born giving life a second chance

Alas the storm is over, LIFE WILL RETURN
