Encounter With a Wise Man

Encounter With a Wise Man

A Poem by Davia Lynn Bradley

Encounter With a Wise Man
There once was a wise man,
And he wisely said,
'Be careful if you can,
And watch where you tread.
The flowers are growing,
Gladly scenting the air,
So set your feet to slowing,
Know that they're there.
See the petals,
That gleam and shine,
Mixed with the nettles,
The flowers are mine.'
And as a young one,
I proudly said,
'They’ll grow in the sun,
Not crushed instead.'
And so I walked on,
Gentle my step,
And in the dawn,
The flowers were kept,
Sweet and beautiful.

A nice rhyming poem......except for the last line has no rhyming partner....What rhymes with beautiful?
