A Poem by DaughterNature

Slow and on the bottom they

 sifT through foodstuffs hidden

     bUt with barbels soon successful

      sluRp up tasty mouthfuls.

is there Genius in the fish?

       do thEy know how

                lOng they have survived

                  uNdisturbed?

Sturgeon are a VERY old kind of fish -- I was tending a touch pool at 10pm.

This lovely little acrostic gathered my thoughts to the Columbia River...
I felt like I had a lesson and a poem wrapped up like a delicious sushi roll. :) Never had Sturgeon before... hmmm? I'll stick with Tuna and Salmon.
Tasteful bit of writing.

they look like dinosaurs and can be monstrous in size for a fish ... we have them in the Missouri river .. on certain hot days you can see them just ladeedahing around the shallows ... touch pools are so cool! nice twist on the acrostic
