The EagleA Poem by nataliememorial for 911 As I walk up to the monument, with names written row after row The marble reflects the sunlight, even though it feels so cold Hurt engraved in memory, Loss without gain Represents our children's cries, mother's love and our Father's pain A boy to my left, is trying to get his mother's attention, and yes, he gets loud What he say's as he is tugging on his mother's sleeve, sure does make me proud "Isn't that daddy's name right there, written in the red, white, and blue?" She shakes her head, and look's at him, because she can't bear the truth "Yes, it is, your father's name, but it is only engraved in black" I guess she didn't see those stars in his eyes or the stripes across his back My finger' trace the number's, yes, nine-eleven deep in my heart, I know, that was one busy day in heaven A rip and a roar, the boy yells we are caught in the enemies snare I look down into his terrified eye's and said, "Tip your hat, and be proud, boy, that's our eagle in the air!"
