It was a dismal night, as Kat sat against a tree, injured. She'd just escaped a prison world, so she'd had to deal with a vampire and werewolf. That's why she was injured. Despite that though, she knew she was in the woods. Everything was starting to go gray, but she could hear someone that sounded familiar. Because of her injuries though, she didn't recognize who it was. Then everything began to fade.

Klaus was in the woods, heading for the direction of the exit of the bayou, but stopped, smelling the very familiar scent. He'd know it anywhere. Katerina. In fact, she was human again. He knew that she should be dead as of a few years ago, so he changed course. Despite the past, he'd put it behind him when she'd died. Now that he'd semi changed, he wouldn't leave her to die. If she was indeed injured, he'd save her if he could. After all, she hadn't been able to digest vampire blood the last time she'd been human. Sure, he could take her to Freya to be healed, but he didn't know yet how injured she was.

When he found her, he saw her against a tree, injured, so he blurred towards and knelt in front of her.

"Katerina," he stated. Looking at her, it appeared that she'd been attacked by a wolf and vampire. It also looked like she'd escaped a prison world. And she'd lost a lot of blood from her injuries. He rested a hand on the side of her face. "Katerina, can you hear me?" Then, after a few moments, he took a chance, knowing she didn't have all night. "Stay with me, Katerina, luv," he encouraged, as he bit his wrist and put it to her lips, forcing his blood down her throat. When he did so, her wounds began to thankfully heal.

When she was fully healed, he took his wrist away, which instantly healed. Then he stayed there, waiting for her to awaken.

When she woke up, she was in the same position in the woods, this time with Klaus there. That's when she realized that he'd found and healed her. That was a relief to her, considering she hadn't wanted to end up dead. It was surprising to her though, after their very long history of what he'd done to her life. She was glad that she could digest blood again, though.

        "Klaus?" she inquired.

"I don't exactly hate you anymore, so I saved you. Feeling better?" he replied.

        "Yeah. Thanks," she replied.

He got to his feet. Then helped her up.

        "You're welcome, luv."

Suddenly, without warning, they ended up in another town. And looking at where they were, Kat saw that they were in a town called Storybrooke, according to the town sign.

A little while later, they were at the diner. Kat had just eaten some human food, and Klaus was back after having had his own food for the night. They were seated next to each other on bar stools, both having a shot glass of Bourbon. After some influence from Klaus, they'd gotten to know everything about everything in this town. Now, they knew who and what they were dealing with. After all, she and Klaus was alike in more ways than one. They both liked to be informed. They loved being ahead of any enemies that might come around. Although, it didn't seem like there were really any enemies in town currently.

Later that night, when Klaus was off elsewhere doing his thing, Kat was walking through the streets. They'd met almost everyone in this town that day. She was briskly walking through the streets currently, because after finding out what Hook was planning to do, she was in search of him. She needed to stop him. She understood revenge for someone who killed those you cared about. She'd been like that with Klaus for so many centuries. But she'd changed after her daughter. She needed to make the captain see that revenge wasn't the answer. Besides, if he killed Belle, he'd just be doing the same thing Rumple had done to him. Then more damage would be done that needed to be done. She just didn't know this town as well as everyone else did. And she didn't have her vampire abilities. She was only descended from Travelers. All she had was one form of magic, as far as she knew. She wasn't sure how far her Traveler magic extended.

After half an hour or so, she saw the scene. The three of them were on the road. Hook was injured, and Rumple had a fireball out, ready to throw at him. She was sure it was probably to end the battle between them once and for all.

She approached and stood between them, looking at Rumple.

"Stop it!" she told him. "You don't have to kill to get your point across. Yes, he did wrong trying to do whatever to your love life, but killing isn't the answer. I would know. And Klaus. We're new to town, but that doesn't mean we don't share a similar story. I was Hook, wanting revenge for Klaus slaughtering my mother, but I eventually buried the hatchet on my deathbed years ago. We may not be friends, but we're allies when danger is near now. I used to be a killer because I had to survive and be ahead of the enemy all the time, whether it be Klaus or another enemy. I've changed, which means anyone can change. Even Klaus himself. So, put that away and walk away."

After a few minutes, he let his hatred and anger cease, and made his fireball go away, for some reason, despite her not being from their world, believing her. He didn't know what made him believe her, though. She was new in town, along with the hybrid. But she was right. He didn't have to kill people to prove his point. But he had the tendency to let his anger get the best of him, so he was semi thankful that she'd shown up to pull him out. He didn't know how she knew what to say, but she had. She seemed to not be too much different from himself or from his true love.

After she saw him put his fireball away and go to check to make sure Belle was okay, she went over and knelt at his side.

"When I tell you not to act on revenge, listen next time. You might actually get yourself killed if you don't," she warned the captain.

"Well, what can I say? I don't do well being told what to do," he truthfully told her, despite the pain he was in.

"You think you can get up? I didn't bring a vehicle. And I don't have the kind of magic to heal, unlike most others. I mean, I could call Klaus, but considering your ability to end up in terrible situations, I don't think anyone should be giving you vampire or hybrid blood."

"I'll settle for not moving for a while," he replied.

"I guess that means I'll be calling a hospital for you then," she stated. "I'll stay here until then, though. No one should be on a road like this alone."

        "Well, thanks," he said.

"Anytime, Captain. Just don't make this a habit. I'm not always going to save you. I've got my own issues to figure out without trying to save people that may or may not deserve it." She got to her feet after saying that, and went to stand in the middle of the road, calling for an ambulance for him with a phone she'd bought in town. After all, it wasn't like she'd had a cell phone with her when she'd escaped that prison world. She'd been too injured and too afraid to think of a phone at the time. Besides, Klaus had been there to help her when she'd needed it, and that's all she really had needed at the time.

A little while after she'd hung up with them and put her phone away, she heard a familiar sound, but when she tried to get out of the way, it didn't exactly pan out. She ended up on the road, injured, while the car ended up rolling a bunch before hitting a tree. She was pretty sure nobody could survive something like that. She wasn't even sure how bad she herself was injured. She didn't know how long it would take them to get there though, so she could only do one thing.

"Klaus," she said softly. If he was nearby, she knew he could hear her. She didn't have to yell, unlike with others that didn't have the ears to hear. She wasn't sure how long she could stay awake, though. And if Klaus wasn't nearby, she knew there were only two people in town that could heal magically. And as she lay there, thinking of all of that, she kept hearing her name. It felt like it was far away, but she was sure it wasn't. She was sure it was just because she was pretty injured. Then, as everything began to go black, she vaguely saw a semi familiar face.

Regina had been walking down roads that night as she normally did, but when she saw a totaled car and a couple people in the road, one on the shoulder and one in the middle, she walked briskly towards the scene. Then, when she got there, she saw that Hook was hurt on the shoulder of the road, looking like he was damaged enough that he couldn't go anywhere, and then she looked to see one of the newcomers she'd met today. Due to the totaled car and the damage Katherine had gotten, she assumed that the car had come out of nowhere and hit her. Thankfully, she was still alive, though. They'd had enough death in this town, even Regina was tired of it for right now. Since she figured Hook would live, she didn't pay him much attention.

"Katherine," she said, knelt at her side, a hand on her arm where she wasn't injured. Looking at the damage, it looked pretty bad. She wasn't sure if she'd even make it to the hospital. So, despite not knowing Katherine for long, but learning of her and Klaus' story from them, she decided to do the only thing she could do to save her. And so, she began to magically heal her, starting with the worst of her wounds, just as she heard a familiar voice she'd learned to recognize.

"What happened?" she heard him question, sounding like he was quickly approaching, but she didn't look.

"I found them like this. I think she's had enough blood for one night from you, and I don't know if she'll make it without my help," she explained, as she continued her healing.

After a few moments, he was at the other side of her. Then the hybrid looked at the former Evil Queen.

        "Thank you."

"I'm just doing what's right," she replied.

He rested a hand on the side of his former doppelganger's face, glad that she was still alive. Despite only being with her in this town for a short time, he felt like he wanted to protect her. And that was something he rarely felt with anyone that wasn't his family.

When the ex doppelganger woke up, she was in her and Klaus' room at the hotel, Klaus seated on her bedside. Noticing she was completely healed, and since she knew Rumple and Regina had the ability to heal, she had to ask her former enemy, "Who healed me?"

"You can thank the witch," he informed her. "What exactly happened, luv?"

"I went to stop the fight between Hook and Rumple. Hook was going to seek revenge. Thankfully, I showed up and persuaded him not to kill Hook just to prove that he won. Everything was great, minus Hook's condition. After I called some help for him, some car came out of nowhere, I think from the outside world. Pretty sure whoever was in the car didn't make it."

"Well, I think that's enough playing hero for you for the night. And you're right. The driver didn't make it, whoever he was. I think the pirate will be okay, though," he replied, a hand on hers.

She looked at him, not sitting up in bed yet. She was healed, but still felt the impact from tonight.

"Where were you? A witch found me before you even knew I was in any danger," she wanted to know.

"I'm sorry, Katerina. From now on, I'll be closer in case you need help," he replied. He didn't say it, but for some reason, he'd thought that a small town like this he wouldn't need to save Katerina as much in. But he wanted her alive. Not for Elijah's sake, but for himself. He knew Katerina didn't deserve this. Not to be human, nor everything she'd been through since being human. If he could save her from this fate, he would, with her permission, of course. After all, Katerina had to want to be a vampire again, or she'd hate him forever, and he didn't want her hating him. He liked their newfound whatever this was with them.

She gave a smile, before sitting up in bed.

"It's okay. You don't need to apologize. I'll never try to change you, but with me being human, you need to be closer in case of trouble. You need to do better," she reminded him.

"You can count on that, dear Katerina," he replied. He didn't know what he'd done if she'd died tonight, with or without his blood in her system still. He'd hated seeing her hurt. Sure, he'd emotionally hurt her, but never even in the past, would he ever physically hurt her. A part of him was still a gentleman. He was better now, anyways.

After about a month of being in town, he and Kat developed love for each other, not too long after they finally became friends. After everything they'd been through in this town together, saving each other from danger, they'd grown quite close. It was to a point that they didn't want to lose one another. They didn't think they could live without each other anymore. And so, after finding their happy ending together, they decided to stay in town. And so, their story continued on.
