GrapefruitA Story by Das100FruitI had a taste for something fresh I didn't want the apple or pear I usually picked a pomegranate I liked a mess I liked a challenge in my meal never one to slice the orange I always peeled it.. slowly scolding my fingers when I dug too deep still this citrus .. the kind I wanted on my lips? required I take a blade to it couldn't risk opening it poorly Juices spilled off the knifes edge in rushed drops I took a risk and kissed my tongue to the cool surface, savoring my first recollection of the scent, the taste, and the warning I knew it'd be gone too soon like the summer, after you've complained all winter, avoided confusion all spring chasing lovers you wont remember I set down on the floor crushing the yellow skin in the palm of my hand til the cool escape of liquor rushed into my mouth I squeeze harder.. til the fruit gave way and all of itself .. like a patient lover I placed it to rest turning my attention to its pair I smiled.. knowing that I'd be so helpless very very soon my juices and your hands... forcing from me until you're sated never leaving me totally dry slicing me in half...so attentive to my insides me dripping into your summer showering your spring but always warming up your winter and fall its like that each and every time you get a taste for a challenge of your own I'm patient ..you're worth it and baby, I'm your grapefruit © 2017 Das100 |
