The Weight

The Weight

A Poem by Kajuan Simmons
"

Hold it, borrow it, Crave it, but it will never be yours

"
What would you do if you had the power?
Would you think about death every hour?
Would you destroy the world with a single stare.
You think you could but you wouldn't dare.
The power is something you cant take.
It will destroy you each day you wake.
Listen to the voices inside your head.
They will keep you from soaking in the red.
This life is yours take a chance.
Get up and take your final dance.
Before this world bleeds you dry.
Until you are pleading and screaming for all to die.
Do not let the power take control.
Or your ticket to freedom will be put on hold.
Do not take the easy road.
Wait for life to lift the load.
Or die in a life of agony and despair.
Live that life and no one will care.
Free yourself from the crushing chains.
and live your life free from sadness and pain.

I like it! It's a good concept with a clear message. It makes you think. The questions in the beginning were a good idea. There's some nice imagery in there. Since it is a poem, and especially a rhyming poem, consider stronger word choice.
Suggestions:
Replace "wouldn't dare" with "would never dare" - more impact and fits the rhythm better
Replace "cant" with "cannot" or "just can't"- again, for stronger impact and rhythm. "Cant" sounds informal and out of place in a poem like this
Replace "each day you wake" with "each time" or "every time"- sounds less juvenile
Comma between "yours" and "chance"
Remove "Or" from the 14th line
Make sure the ideas of the poem connect to each other well. In poems, think about the rhythm of the poem as well as the rhyme. Think about how the syllables sound with each other. Obviously, use your own judgement. These are just my opinions.
