The Truth is Hard to Find

This is something I wrote Sun. 4/23/2017

I know the answer, but I'm too afraid to make a mistake,

I plaster a smile on my face even though I know it's fake,

I try to act "strong", but deep down I'm about to break.

No one knows the truth, not even myself,

I try to be perfect, but I can't reach that highest shelf,

I encourage people to raise their self-esteem, but in me I can't even believe in my own self.

I try to control everything, but in that I lack,

I feel so helpless to answer, even though I'm a brainiac,

Standby, you know I try, but I'm mostly just a partial insomniac.

Will anyone know the truth? I sure hope so,

But the key to that is smaller than my big toe,

I just want you to know what I know.

I told you so, but you never listened....
