Only the LonelyA Poem by Eric DarsieThe meaning of the word "friendship" had been on my mind as of late. So I wrote a poem about it and wrote out some thoughts that tied in with it.Only the Lonely
What does the word “friendship” mean to you? If someone’s your friend, Wouldn’t they show you that they care? That you matter to them? That you mean the world to them?
One thing I can’t fully comprehend Are those who I consider close Often tend to leave me out of social events. They get upset when questioned Or tend not to respond.
Loneliness tends to be my best friend. Becoming content each time I’m alone, Often times I battle feeling accepted by them, Yet the only person’s opinion died for my sins. Why do I tend to wander when my acceptance is found in Jesus Christ?
No matter what answers are found, It’s hard to believe that “my friends” care. I ought to remember to turn to Jesus When I note people’s pitfalls. It’ll be, in time, when I come short too.
Please tell those whom you care for That they mean the world to you. It’ll mean the world to them, Even if they won’t return the favor. We all need one another " there are no lone rangers.
True friendship is a rare art form, We all are well acquainted acquaints. Be a friend to someone; Touch their lives in the way they touched yours. Show them you love them, don’t just use words.
A lack of communication speaks volumes, Even if you unintentionally mean to say it. Though you don’t mean it in this way, I feel like I’m a mere acquaintance. I apologize if I wronged you, unintentional or not.
Not giving people an opinion smothers them, Unconsidering their interests cuts them deeply. Philippians 2 instructs us to hold others’ interests up Yet I feel dirt is considered before me. I apologize to you too.
A rock band once said: “Friendship is rare.” I’m in full agreement with them. Counting my deck of friends, The jokers and deuces I’m tossing out, Every other card is under consideration.
In Christ everything I need is found, In Him I can do stuff for others And don’t need anything in return. Because of what Jesus did for me, I’ll reconsider the deck of friends I have.
The entire acceptance we need is found in Jesus And we’re called to love others like He is loving us. I ought to turn to Him more than I do, Only the lonely know how I’m feeling, Go and be a friend to someone you love. © 2012 Eric Darsie |
