Ode to BerthaA Poem by Eric DarsieA tribute to my (dead) car.Ode to Bertha
My big, brown, beautiful babe You had a wide bumper Sucked a lot of gas But hauled lots of friends
How you died makes me cry Multiple times when we stopped First at a stop sign in the city Last at a stop lights on the highway
You had to go We had to sell you Brought you back to life once You’re high maintenance to keep up
We kept you in the family From Grandpa and his sister you began You never quit on them Is it cause of your age?
Too many times you died on me Time for you to go You’re big, you’re brown, and you’re beautiful © 2011 Eric Darsie |
