![]() Luke 2A Poem by Eric Darsie![]() A lot of people in America today have a misconception of what the meaning behind Christmas is. Jesus was born to save us all from the fallen world we currently live in.![]() Luke 2
He was born on a cold, dark night To a virgin, godly woman and her finance Quirinius was the Governor of Syria Ordered all to register, first under his rule Laid in a manger, wrapped in swaddling cloths Oh King of the Jews, how You saved us What poor birth You entered this fallen world Come to save us all, that’s Your desire Bethleham where You chose to first appear Shepherds seeking the new born King Giving glory above, news given by an angel of the Lord The eighth day You were circumcised and called Jesus Conceived in her womb by the Holy Spirit Law of Moses had You brought to Jerusalem The Spirit of the Lord let people know You were coming Simeon was instructed he won’t see death until he saw You Nazareth were You grew older and stronger, oh yes The favor of God was upon You there Your parents went to Jerusalem every year for the Feast of the Passover Age twelve You were left there Not on purpose, no, simply by accident Three days search they finally found You there Sitting, listening to the teachers, learning, asking questions “And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?"”[1] No one understood what You meant, misunderstood like all of us Submissive to Your parents and went back to Nazareth You increased in stature and favor Among God and man, while gaining wisdom Your birth, in which to save us all From ourselves, and from sin. © 2010 Eric DarsieAuthor's Note
