MagicA Poem by Darryl PiercyA poem about religionI lit the candles For the souls that lost their way The lonely and the sick All you have to do is pay Handed out the bread And a little sip of wine Said a little magic That made it all divine I lit the candles For the mood to be just right A little dash of righteousness More dramatic when at night Flowing robes and colors Made it all seem so surreal Minds that looked for hope Bodies that hoped to heal The organ it did resonate As the trodden sang their song Eternal life is just in reach I’m sure it wont be long Handed out the bread And a little sip of wine Said a little magic That made it all divine I lit the candles For the sinners in us all What difference will it make When we reach the final call The work of faith Does not come cheap Pass the plate for it is gold Spun from labor of the sheep All done in open majesty Like kings that came before Take from those who need it most Just robbing from the poor Handed out the bread And a little sip of wine Said a little magic That made it all divine I extinguished all the candles Mogen David put away Its time to count the blessings That we took from them today © 2016 Darryl Piercy |
