Time to cryA Poem by Darryl PiercyA poem of regret and concer for what has been lostWe are lost in a time Where the past is now forgot When the hope was one of peace When the world was not so hot We were the Woodstock generation Going to make a change Where life would be so simple And not so prearranged We sang of times so easy To live our lives just free Instead the message changed for us A life long spending spree What happened to the message Of brotherhood and caring To take care of one another Thru lifelong love and sharing We expected so much more of us When we were just eighteen Battered by an unjust war Some marched and some just screamed Somewhere in the haze of life The dream was set aside Its now about the money And we take it all in stride We are the lost generation For we have lost our way We thought things would be better If we worked hard every day. We forgot about the dream We forgot about what’s right We forgot all that’s important To reach the tallest height Our life is just so short What difference can we make For future generations Not to perpetuate The mistakes that we have made To let the dream slip by For those who love this earth It may be time to cry We had our chance To make the change Is it too late To re-arrange Our priorities and direction Is it too late to try For those who love the earth It may be time to cry. © 2016 Darryl Piercy |
