So Much More



I have left you in a void
I haven't done so well
Knowledge just a ghost
Of which I need to tell

A life that's learned so much
No way to keep the score
Of how I've done in telling you
In life there is so much more

You should have climbed the mountains
Toes that touch the shore
A gentle stream with morning mist
In life there’s so much more

The feel of walking naked
With no one else around
Looking at the stars above
And sleeping on the ground

A cold and icy sunrise
A breath that you can see
These are just a few of the
Important things to me

How can I let you feel
The things that I have learned
The ones that are important
Now that it's your turn

I have come to realize
It's not what you have gained
It's what you do and how you feel
That keeps you from the pain

You can choose to take the easy route
Never straying from the path
A destination preordained
But you’re always looking back

At roads that were not taken
At dreams that never were
Of places that were out of reach
Just a member of the herd

Or you can reach for things unknown
New adventures everyday
Left or right or straight ahead
You get to choose the way

The choice is yours of how you live
Let no one else decide
For it is you that sets the course
On this crazy mixed up ride

I just know that life is short
With much to see and do
How you cherish that short time
Is really up to you

So what I need to tell you
That I haven't said before
That outside of your small world
Lies a place with so much more

Before you choose the path
That you elect to take
Make sure that it is right for you
And it is the one you make

Before you take the easy route
I urge you to explore
The sights, the sounds, the smells and tastes
Life can offer so much more

Than that which comes so easy
That appears upon your door
I want you to look back and say
Life thrilled me to my core
