For allA Poem by Darryl PiercyA poem about social injustice and current eventsFor All Another Black man killed today Please say it isn’t so That a cop can kill another And they’ll surely let him go This follows one from yesterday And perhaps the day before Murder in the name of law We must all just say no more Is it that they’re just afraid And therefor act in haste Or is there deeper motivation To leave a life in waste Is this what justice looks like I really want to know Or is this just another form Of a modern day Jim Crow All lives matter is what you say On that we can agree Then why is it that when this goes down Its only black families that grieve The movement that is in the streets To show that someone cares Makes those that are responsible Accountable for their errors. If it wasn’t for the video Or citizens involved The matter would be pushed aside Its time that we evolve From a nation lost in hate To one where light shines bright A place where color does not determine The level of laws might Treat each life with respect Its time to hear the call With liberty and justice For all © 2016 Darryl Piercy |
