The world is our canvas

The world is our canvas

A Chapter by AJ

The world is our canvas from which we paint our lives, hopes, dreams and wishes. We use the colour of our thoughts and emotions to give the canvas life and form. As we paint the canvas of our daily lives the canvas of life is given strength. The wars that we wage upon ourselves and others adds another stroke of the brush and another layer of paint to the canvas. Our minds and bodies may break but it's our spirits that will live on to continue to paint on the canvas of life, even after we leave this world and travel on to the next. As we extend our reach and aim for the stars to complete our goals, new challenges arise to meet us. We must work around these obstacles to reach the next goal, the next leg in this journey we call life. Some live long lives, while others live short lives and leave their canvas half complete like Leonardo da Vinci. Some pictures aren't painted perfectly or very pretty, but that doesn't mean that the person who painted it was good or bad in nature, it means that they made plenty of mistakes in their life and tried to correct them, but never could. There are those who live great lives that paint pictures that are amazing, but are full of lies and deception. And then there are those whose pictures are horrible, but are full of truth and triumph. Those whose lives were horrible are capable of painting the most beautiful pictures, but lack the means and devotion to do so. The colours that we choose to use on our canvas depends on the type of person we are and the decisions we make in our lives. Everyone is different and will leave a different colour on the canvas of life, and a different mark on a person in their lives. Those who were close to the person will continue their picture for them adding in their lives after death has claimed the first artist. As the painting is finished and added onto, the lives of those around moves on, as does their pictures. The picture that you paint on your canvas depends on the choices we make and the person we become if we choose not to learn from our mistakes. The canvas of life doesn't forgive a mistake but excepts it as a trial, to find just that right tone and colour that you want to use and be remembered for in the future by your grandchildren and their grandchildren. As a new generation is born a new colour set is born with new and exciting colours that will breathe new life into the canvas. But with each new generation comes its challenges and obstacles. As the layers of paint are applied and coats thicken new and more advanced obstacles arise and grow. With each new obstacle the paint becomes brighter and newer because of each new challenge is a new beginning to a story and a new painting. As a saying goes "Without an end, there can be no new beginning," can be followed by, with each new stroke, breath is give to the painting and to the life of others. As I write this we paint a new chapter and new picture in our lives and aid the bigger painting of our lives with newer and brighter colours. As we age the colours that we use to paint the pictures of our lives fade to non-existence, we except the help of the young to brighten the paint and bring it back to its original hue. The painting of our life and mark on the world may not be perfect but it's who we are and always will be. There are those who will crush your dreams and hopes, but never give up on those hopes and dreams, for those dreams can become a reality and your hopes true. As we dream the dream creates a colour for ones canvas and becomes a starting point in the creation of a new chapter in ones life. As a person builds on their dreams, they hope for it to be true one day. As the day draws closer, the dream can become a reality and the hope becomes stronger and stronger. The dreams of childhood are the strongest dreams known to man, as a child's imagination can create the backdrop of his or her future in our world. As we grow older the dreams begin to change and alter, but stay somewhat childish in nature. The nature of ones dreams depend on the type of activity done that very day and the plans for the activities of the next. Dreams can corrupt the mind or allow it to grow and become creative, as a dream can be a safe haven or a hellish world. We have learned to except these worlds and named them dreams and nightmares to help distinguish them. The dreams hold hopes high while the nightmares hold false hopes even higher for the bearer to see. When we wake from the nightmare we feel scarred and hopeless, but we know that it was just a bad dream, a mistake that we can learn from and accept into our daily lives. As we learn to accept truth from fiction, we grow wiser and become more human than we were before. Mankind has hopes that can or can't become real. As ones hopes become real, we work harder to achieve them and create newer hopes that can be built onto the hope you wish to achieve. Each hope is different, some are for happiness, while others are for love. As ones future becomes brighter, they feel like they can touch the stars and can do anything as long as there is hope for them to hold onto. As the human race evolves and grows in size, new hopes and dreams are brought to the world and introduce new colours to the pallet. As the pallet of colours grows and brightens, a new layer of paint is added making the painting of life more vivid and developed. As we progress through life uncertain of the future, we second guess ourselves and make the mistake of believing in false hopes and dreams. But life must go on and grow so that the painting of life can be completed and the canvas covered and displayed for future generations to come. As those generations paint the chapters of their lives, our chapter comes to rest. We may become a part of human history, but our legacies will continue to live on in the form of a scar that will never fade regardless of how hard you try to erase the mistakes and take back the choices we've made. As this scar gets more vivid and gnarled from time, we look back at our lives and ask ourselves "Was it worth it? Was it worth the price we've paid or will pay in the future?" The answer is: possibly, but to what cost? The planet, our children's future, our future. No one really knows, but that's what humanity has shown it can do. Humanity will never truly understand what it means to sacrifice one thing for another. The loss in life or the loss of a planet we call home. In the end we will have to make a choice; the ones we love or the planet we call home. The choice we as humanity will make that will stay with us for the rest of our lives as a species. Personally I'd rather die with my loved ones then lose them, but that's my choice not yours. What choice you make is up to you and you alone, because we are individuals who can make choices for ourselves and don't need someone else making them for us. By letting someone else make the choices for you takes your individuality from you, making you a pawn or puppet depending on how you look at it. This can make a person weak and venerable to a variety of bad choices, mistakes and regrets. How does this tie into the legacies we leave behind you might ask. Our legacy as a human race is based on the choices we make, whether good or bad, they shape our world and lives. This is how it ties into the legacies we leave behind. Not every legacy is good, the bad legacies leave a scar on the person that the legacy belongs to. This scar will be passed on to their children and grandchildren, slandering the family name either permanently or temporarily depending on which child fixes the mistakes that created the legacy of his or her family name. When the mistakes are corrected and the legacy has new light shed on it, it can be changed so that the family can regain their honour and look like the new family on the block once more. Human kind is capable of such feats, but not everyone will choose to do this because they don't care.
