You Took the Hit For MeA Poem by LexiA poem about a friend who saves another's life.We are in a forest. We are running in the shadows of the night. I run around you playing and having fun. We go on for a while, in the quiet night. I howl and you join in. We keep on running in the forest our paws making no sound. Our white fur glinting in the moonlight. The night seems to go on forever. Then you stop. A bang then a whoosh. You jump in front of me. You fall in the snow besides the lake. I look at the human. He smiles and laughs. His laughter rings clear in the still air. I look at you, my fallen friend. You saved my life. I see your crimson blood seeping into the snow and lake. The snow is stained with blood and the lake runs red. I look deep into your eyes willing for her to wake up. Your amber eyes show nothing but the stars and moon reflected in them. I look at the man and howl mournfully at the night sky. You had took the hit for me. You had died for me. I run at the man, not caring about a thing in the world. Nothing except for avenging you. I leaped at the human and the bang and whoosh came again. I fall and roll next to you. And I would soon have the stars and moon reflect in my eyes. I tried to get up but I fell. I lay down next to you. You had died and fallen for me. You took the hit for me. And Death finally took me to run along the stars with you. I thank you. Remember that my fallen friend. Remember that.
