DIMMER, THEN OBSCURITY

DIMMER, THEN OBSCURITY

A Poem by Hunter DeLacy
"

With this piece my inspiration was the lyrics on the song 'Red Right Hand' by Nick Cave. I love that he creates such a powerful atmosphere, and this intern gave me the desire to do the same.

"
In the solemn haze,
between industrial distortion,
The Skid-row calls out,
a beacon for the broken.

Those who answer put aside all brevity,
submitting instead to some rendition of primal reason.

The summons reverb over viaducts of tattered shale,
and the shattered globe laments it's now distant recollection of illumination.

Perpendicular to the pavement,
those once animated reduced to ambivalence,
the attendance of onlookers dissipating to static.
