NEVER AGAINA Poem by darkside14This I write in memory of the post election violence in Kenya 2007, where people lost lives as a result of violence along political and tribal/ethnic lines. hope we never forget or try again
Never Again
The sound of guns blazing in the air The sound of women and children screaming The sound of men crying like kids That's the sound that plays in my head The view of men shot point blank The view of women and girls being raped The view of kids being slaughtered like chicken That's the view that lingers in my eye The smell of fuel spilling The smell of smoke from burning houses choking me The smell of human beings burned to death alive That's the smell that I smell I hopelessly watched my friends shot I hopelessly watched my father and brothers butchered alive I hopelessly watched as my mothers and sisters innocence taken away I watched helplessly Its such a sad scene to see Its such a horrifying spectacle to view Its such a terrifying thing to witness My heart bleeds daily from the thought of it Never again, I pray to God Never again, I tell myself Never again, I tell all Never again, shall our country bleed from tribalism and political stupidity KENYA MY PRIDE AND JOY (In memory of Kenya's 2007 post election violence) ©24/04/2014.
