They Always Leave

Somehow my silence is affecting my mind

I don't know how to put these thoughts into words

Anger has his hand around my throat

Someday I'm going to explode from suppressing this affliction

Your acknowledgment of what I feel won't make me understand

Did I leave or was it you?

Either way I didn't have this planned

Remember when we played on the hill?

We were more like boys with dirt on our hands

You must have forgotten how close we were

I climb our tree still...

I tore those pictures of us off my wall

Your letters are in a dump now

I know you love me but why did you act like my heart was so small?

We both know you didn't want to make that apology

So just stop and leave me alone to scream at a door

I'm sick of being lied to and not knowing how to feel

Don't mind me, you just left me bleeding on the floor

To my best friend who taught me not to trust people with my heart and that people don't seem to stick around. I love you but screw you.

What a truly fantastic line which to me is the heart of the whole piece.
At times it felt more telling than showing, but overall it left me with this feeling that you were writing about recent events in my life.

The misery in this piece..my god.

Everything about this poem hit me like waves. Made a tornado in both my head & heart.

It just made me so angry. & so sad at the same time..

Made me smile, but at the end left me broken. Crying.

It's so beautiful. & real.

You managed to capture the love you have for that person, but how they'll never love you back the same way. They won't care for you the way you care for them.
