HoboA Poem by Cristal BridgesThis just came into my head! What would you do if you saw me on the street? Would you smile, turn your head, or stamp your feet? Would you give me the change at the bottom of your purse? Or leave me alone with my wounds to nurse?
I tried to get a job, I really, really did. But it’s just so hard living here inside my head. So what if there’s a bit of dirt on my face, It’s not like my head lays in a proper place.
I live here on the streets with absolutely nothing, While you go on with your lives huffing and puffing. Why don’t you just help the little people out? It’s not like we’ve got the right voice to shout.
All we want is a bit of compassion from you, What’s the matter got too many things to do? All we need is a small little measly crumb, So, stop treating us like we’re slimy scum.
