Hobo

Hobo

A Poem by Cristal Bridges
"

This just came into my head!

"

What would you do if you saw me on the street?

Would you smile, turn your head, or stamp your feet?

Would you give me the change at the bottom of your purse?

Or leave me alone with my wounds to nurse?

I tried to get a job, I really, really did.

But it’s just so hard living here inside my head.

So what if there’s a bit of dirt on my face,

It’s not like my head lays in a proper place.

I live here on the streets with absolutely nothing,

While you go on with your lives huffing and puffing.

Why don’t you just help the little people out?

It’s not like we’ve got the right voice to shout.

All we want is a bit of compassion from you,

What’s the matter got too many things to do?

All we need is a small little measly crumb,

So, stop treating us like we’re slimy scum.

Help a brother out!

I love the last line! And the whole thing, too. ;)
This is how I feel so often when I see people just ignore others on the streets. I mean, come on! This poem for sure describes how I feel and what I see and how angry people make me! Great job!

Oh this phenomenal...something I've for the longest time bled over...You put it so beautifully...thank God there are people like You who write about this...I am honored to read such a piece...You give the poor a voice...a strong voice..

This is excellent love! The homeless get hardly any help, its heartbreaking and something I feel passionately about! To walk on by do we ever consider we condemn ourselves for lack of charity where needed?!
AWESOME poem love!
Serious kudos

Very nice. To add insult to injury, most homeless people are mentally I'll. A lot are schizophrenic and can't function in a normal job. Plus they don't have money for the meds they need completing the vicious circle. Thank you for putting the spotlight. Well done.
