Woeful Debt I Pay "A Tribute to the Veterans of War"A Poem by Cristal BridgesThis was one of my poems published in my school's district anthology when I was in 8th grade. Enjoy.A loved one's sorrorw, A melancholy grief, Suffocating pain, Misfortune on one's part, Woeful debt I pay.
A loss for words, Sinful remorse, Daring traps I set, Unsheltered sadness, Woeful debt I pay.
An open wound, An open tomb, Red cascading downward, A dying breed we are, Woeful debt I pay.
The world a tomb, A graveyard of soldiers fighting for their country, My freedom stands, Woeful debt I pay. © 2010 Cristal BridgesReviews
