Black Out

Black Out

A Poem by Cristal Bridges
"

I wrote this when I was in 9th grade in high school.

"

The lights cast shadows across this land

Barren and plain-no helping hand

People suffer, children die

Riots break out in the dark, and people cry

Screams of anger

Bruises and scars

Tear through life

Through these broken bars

Drive-bys-people on the street

Run from the cops for their retreat

Voices scream and shout

In this living nightmare, this total black out

There is so much within this poem! A great piece
Makes the reader think and place themselves in a strange land!
To live on the edge, to be defiant of the powers that be! Yet, to be afraid of that repercussion! This is a frightening piece!
Well written
xx
