The Lighthouse & the Moon

The Lighthouse & the Moon

A Poem by Cristal Bridges
"

I wrote this poem a long time ago. I hope you enjoy it.

"

When at first they met they knew their love could never be,

But they were there together on an island by the sea.

Where the billowing tides do kiss the rustic sanded shores,

And the waters whisper siren songs from the days of yore

It was on this salt strewn haven that the two held out their hands

And intertwining fingers made haste of love’s demands

Neither party uttered a single word from out their lips

But all was said and spoken with eyes and fingertips

And each unspoken syllable was a message to the other

That after this storm tossed meeting there could never be another

But each aquatic passenger knew they could always sail back and remember

When sailors floated ‘neath the moon and the lighthouse’s gilded embers.

I loved every word. Was sad when it ended. I love lighthouses and ocean scenes. Beautiful poem.
