A Gift

This is one of my Christain poems. Read if you like.

The Lord gave me a gift,

To write with pen and ink.

To give people encouraging words,

When they’re on the breaking brink.

He’s touched my life in so many ways,

Changed my blind heart to burn bright.

Made my soul brand-spanking-new,

Gave me a torch to shine His light.

I’m not some perfect person,

I don’t fit into a mold.

But with The Lord, Jesus Christ,

An infectious love has taken hold.

He’s helping me to spread His song,

Helping me to write with soul.

If I can change one person’s life,
It would be better than a gift of gold.

It’s not words from my mouth,

But from a sure and steady hand.

A message sent down from God,

Part of His master design and plan.

I’m so glad I have this gift,

I thank Him every single day.

For giving me a voice to speak,

And for telling me just what to say.

A sweetly sincere little prayer to He who gives all good gifts. What a pleasure to find a young person who has not forgotten her roots! To say nothing of my favorite characteristic, that of being willing to spend the extra few minutes of thought and labour, in order to convert a lovely thought into a true poem...I am still old school, y'see, and so stubbornly insist that if it ain't rhymed, it just ain't as good as it could have been! Lovely job, Cristal!

Another really nice writing full of great rhythm and rhyme. Great word choices and you have a real ability to make religion feel so free and uplifting in words.. truly a gift. It's another really inviting piece that shows a reader that believing doesn't not make a person a saint but points them towards a better perspective. Religion does not have to be boring.. it can be productive and inspiring just like this tribute.. really, really great job!
