Twisted Allegory

Twisted Allegory

A Poem by Darkmoon_Shadow

These eyes betray me for what lies before me is only an illusion, a twisted allegory.
That is what i tell myself as i gaze upon this corpse. Then Death creeps upon me, atop his pale white horse.
"Come with me now, your time has come, no longer shall you wander."
"Your days are done so come along, there is no time to wonder."
"What could have been, what should have been, or all your days of blunder."

My eyes filled with sorrow. My heart went cold in his icy hold, for I shall never see tomorrow.
I fell to my knees and begged of him "Please!"
"I deserve a second chance!"
He then turned to me and that is when i could see,
Not a thing in his ebon glance.

He then offered me his hand,
Yet not to steal my grace.
He offered me his hand,
Instead to take his place.

This one feels like it could turn into a story. Or perhaps a sequel? What t would be like as death himself.
Very good poem!
