The Unseen Guardian

The Unseen Guardian

A Poem by Darkmage

Darkness has fallen,

The moon, high above, spills its light,

Filtering through the trees and transforming

The forest below into a realm of ethereal glow.

On silent wings, I drift through the trees,

My soft, silver-tipped feathers barely making a sound.

My eyes are keen, allowing me to see

All the secrets that the night holds.

A few more moments of silent flight,

And I will see what I have

Been searching for this night.

Then, what I seek appears--

At first, a faint glow

Gleaming softly through the branches.

Upon closer approach, a cabin

Can clearly be seen--

A cozy cabin, its chimney puffing a

Wisp of smoke, carrying the scent of pine and hearth.

Perching silently upon a branch near a window,

I peer in, searching for the one I have

Come to see. Years have passed

Since I began to keep watch over you.

Then, a flicker in the window--

A movement slight--

Confirms my vigil's purpose.

Unaware, you move within the gentle light,

Oblivious to the watchful eyes above.

I am meant to keep watch over you,

Protecting you from shadows that creep,

From whispers of doubt, and from whatever harm I can.

Almost always unnoticed,

But not always unheard,

A rustle in the leaves, a gentle hoot in the night,

Warning of dangers and whispering

Of good things to come, like the promise of dawn

You are unaware, but from the moment

Of your birth, I was chosen to be your guardian,

Your guide-- it is my duty to look after you.

I take on these responsibilities with a

Devoted heart, for this is my purpose in

Life
