Love's Gentle DawnA Poem by DarkmageThe dawn breaks softly, Sunlight streams through the curtains, A symphony of sound, The chirping of sparrows And the melodious call of robins Fill the air drifting in the window from outside. Under the warmth of our covers, I slowly wake, And my first sight is you" Peaceful, still dreaming. Your hair rests against the pillow, A calm serenity on your face. For a moment, I simply watch, Content to be here, Before I gently pull you closer, Letting the day begin with us together. You murmur softly, in your sleep. Unconsciously, moving closer to me. The warmth of your body pressing Next to mine, it feels so incredibly good to me. Gently raising my hand, Trying not to wake you I brush the hair from your face. Looking into the face I have Come to love and adore I think to myself-- How lucky I am to have you Here with me. And just how Much you mean to me. How did I ever deserve such love? You are my life, my only reason For getting up each morning. As I watch you continue to sleep, I feel the love I have for you stir deep within me, It began as a small spark, A fleeting moment, But that spark ignited something brighter, Something that still burns in me today. When we first met, I never could have known That such a small ember would grow into this. Over time, our love has blossomed, Flourishing, growing, Deepening with each day we share. The spark we kindled has become a flame" Warm, steady, unyielding. Slowly you begin to wake, Opening your eyes. Turning your Face towards mine a beautiful Smile appears. And you sleepily Say “Good Morning Sweetheart”. I reply, good morning sweetie Before giving you a quick kiss. We both snuggle up closer to each other Content to be in each other's arms. Listening to the sounds of the morning, Neither one of us wanting the moment to pass. Together we rest, The flame of our love steady and warm
