![]() My LoveA Poem by Ashley Flynn![]() I started riffing on some verses last night at 2 am. I'd love some input/feedback if you all have any.![]() I remember a time when I was blissful, A place where I was safe, A scent that meant stillness, A warmth that felt like home. That moment you want to stay in, To live in forever, To freeze and protect and Preserve in a picture That you keep in your pocket, Close to your heart, To hold onto when life gets too bitter. I was a poet when we met, But I thought I was broken, Spirit cracked, heart shattered, All the words spilled out, dried up. But you filled my heart with so many words, Phrases and lyrics and stories. I wasn't broken. I was strong, I was able. And the words filled me, Lived in me, Poured out of me, Filling the cracks and Softening the edges and Making me whole again. They say my love is a Muse. That my love inspires story and poetry and song, but They are wrong because, My love moves story and Breathes poetry and Is the song. Is the rhythm and the melody that Fills your body, overflowing. Lifts your spirit, past the sky. Makes your heart pound as Minutes become seconds and Moments become lifetimes and it Moves you, dances you to The very end. My love has eyes like dark amber and lips like raw honey dripping sweetness, words and kisses, from tongue and teeth Left my mouth dry, throat burning, Body craving more. My love's embrace is like a fortress, Locking out doubt and pain and fear. Stronger than the world, Softer than reality. Fingertips cool like a breeze, Smile warm like the sunshine. I do not mourn my love, For my love is not lost. My love lives and I Write to remember Read to relive, Celebrate and pray, When I seek out love, I can find it, All across the pages, In between the lines. © 2015 Ashley FlynnFeatured Review
