I hide myself

A poem about setting aside your feelings for the needs of someone else

I hide myself so no one knows

I’ve had to hide awhile

Despite myself my heart still glows

At the beauty of your smile

I look away so nothing shows

When you pass me by

The love and longing as it flows

When you catch my eye

I stay away so no one sees

The pain I’m going through

Some lovers offer me the world

But all I want is you

So that your heart will stay at ease

This promise I’ll keep true

To love you, but from far away

While happiness you pursue

Isn't it funny how an inspiration for a poem can come at anytime, including when your caring for your choppers? haha. What would it be like if we could discover those that have a secret crush on us? I'm sure many would be surprised at finding out, feeling different about that person than they did before. Nice poem Ashley.
