The Final Prayer

The Final Prayer

A Poem by Darkevin

Dear God in heaven, so contrite..
Ultimate of truth and light,
while I pray with all my might,
I ask deliverance from my plight!

Forgive me, for I haven't quite
the strength to carry on the fight
which for so long, I've felt was right....
my brightest DAY remains the night.

So, help me Lord to have the sight
to see once more thy robes of white
and feel no other mentor's bite
like those which bind me now so tight.

Replace depression with delight....
give guidance to my spirit's flight.....
Allow me to obtain a height
above the one I leave tonight.......

I read this one after "Living, Loving God". Both read right out of my disillusionment period, the hope, the prayers desperate, and then the anger. Religion is such a difficult subject.

Fantastic write!
Great flowing write straight from the heart,
I enjoyed this piece a ton, God is good and will
provide, he always has and always will, PTL!
Thanks for sharing and b-blessed!

' my brightest DAY remains the night ' ... there's always light at the end of the tunnel, though at times it does seem illusive !

A powerfully penned emotive poem, with yearning and despair aplenty !
