Chapter 1 (wip)A Chapter by Aislinng& Edge begins!!........
"Jayla Laurels from the USA, skating to-" "Ms. Laurels? So Ms.Laurels is absent today?" My hand shot up in protest. "Uh no. She's right there." A boy behind me said, getting the sub's attention, & pointing at me. "Oh. So you are here, Ms.Laurels." I nodded, lowered my exhausted hand, then responded. "Of course I am. I'm not invisible or dead am I?" The sub's eyes narrowed, harshly at me. Oops. Curse you big mouth! This is what happens when my figure skating day dreams are interrupted too soon. I get crabby & start spewing random rude garbage at anyone who I find irking. & this sub was very irking. First of all, my name is Jayla not Laurels. I hate being called by my last name. Second of all, I hate those who don't notice me. Hello! I'm not a ghost! Eh. She's lucky I only pointed out the obvious.
The sub's gaze switched to the giant red button mounted on the wall by the class door. Her gaze met mine again. Don't do it. Mine told her. Don't press the emergency button. What ensued next was a war of gazes. You know you don't wanna do it. You know that big red button isn't so fun. Don't press it. Of course, she pressed it. Subs hate me. A brief ear splitting alarm went off, then the class door was thrown open. The principal entered our class. "What?" He asked, annoyed, a half eaten donut in his left hand. "This student is giving me attitude." The sub complained. "I didn't agree to come in today to deal with brats like her." The principal frowns. "You interrupted me over this?" The sub nodded. The principal faked a laugh, but his face remained cherry red. "That's a part of Ms. Laurels's charm, I'm afraid. Now, I'm going to finish my donut in peace. That sub shift tomorrow's covered, so don't come in. & whatever you do, do NOT press that button again!" He yelled, irate. The sub looked gob-smacked. I smirked, smugly. Ha. Take that sub. The bell rang, sharply, in my sensitive ears. Yes! Perfect timing. I gathered my stuff & sprung from my chair, making a mad dash out of the room. I ran through the empty halls, ecstatic to be the first one to be going home. I didn't bother to wait for my friends by our lockers. What was the point of doing that, anyway? It wasn't like we'd hang out. I'm busy today, just like I was yesterday. & they probably are too. Plus, we don't even use our lockers anymore. Takes too much time to put things in them & take them out again. Instead, I walked right out of school. I decided to cut across the grass, as a short cut. When I made it to the other side, my arms & back began to protest, sore from carrying my heavy bag around. Frustrated, I grabbed my phone out of my jeans pocket & dialed 's number from memory. © 2014 AislinngAuthor's Note
