Plague War Famine and Death

Plague War Famine and Death

A Poem by Eric R
"

the four horsemen ride...

"

PLAGUE, WAR, FAMINE and DEATH

On twitching legs and buzzing wings

The wind carries the droning swarm

Hoards strike like poison arrows

Boring disease into your soul

The suffocating pestilence spreads

Multiplying, devouring

Gorging until nothing is left

Fear and hate bellow the fire

Flames flicker with lies and deceit

The wind screams, releasing the demons of war

Steel talons carry an impending horror

A great cloud of atomic death

The innocent condemned to strife

Scars upon scars, the affliction of war

Scarred, abandoned, feeling the pangs of despair

A parched world of dried blood and tears

Arms unfold, reaching out

As if holding their souls aloft

Their empty hands shrivel like dead leaves

A groaning wind travels over the dust

Dragging along the souls of the dead

A raspy, melancholy sigh echoes in the emptiness

Moving stiffly into the shadows

The sound of rattling bones in the wind

A black curtain rises, it's the lid of the Reaper's eye

Revealing eyes of white fire, gleaming on his ascending blade

Life is extinguished

Memories die, the soul evaporates

Dissipating like smoke in a soft wind

Death is cold, and final
