Forbidden Love

Forbidden Love

A Poem by Becky Clancy

Many people believe in love at first sight

I'll admit, I have been through that once before in my life

You see a boy in your school that you like and instantly you fall for him

Yep, I've done that

But do I get the boy? No

Do you know why?

The reason is because to me, when I was little, I believed that boys only one thing

Looks

And nothing but looks

Whats the one thing I don't have?
Looks

Thats the one thing I don't have in my life

Do I wish to have it? I don't know

I do have some guy friends, but I never had a boyfriend in my life

Do I wish to have one? That a "I don'know thing" to

After several years have gone by in my life, everytime I see someone I like I always tell myself

Love is forbidden...it is always forbidden...

Just give it up...its forbidden in your life...

No one likes you...and they never will...

Why the negative self image. No one should have right or invitation to describe your feelings nor define you. I've read your works. Love is not forbidden for you. You're quite capable of it, and some young fella will eventually see that. The only thing that should be forbidden to you is cynicism

Really nice poem. Its unfortunate that some people feel this way, though. True love isn't based on looks. Just sayin'. ;) Nice job.

This is a very emotionally-charged poem that a lot of teens can relate to. Another good one.

Strong and great poem. Like how you separated things. The words create a beauiful yet saddening story

This poem was both very sad and very moving, and it does a great job of showing the sadness many high schoolers and people in general face. The use of forbidden love is an outstanding part of the poem.

I can totally relate. I was exactly like that in school and you are right i didn't get the boy but after awhile i didn't want him because i knew i couldnt have him. Besides the one i wanted was a jerk. But anyway This was an awesome poem and thank you for writing it :) I love the feeling of the poem. Most defiantly powerful message. 100% great:)
