The Winter Spell

The Winter Spell

A Poem by Dark_Hearts
"

I have never ever been good at poetry, but we had to write this for class. Let me know what you guys think!

"

I stand still

All that can be heard is the howl of the wind

Longing for the leaves to return

But to no avail

I step forward

Listening to the crunch of my feet

Trudging through the foot-deep snow

The silver moonlight making it look blue

I take a deep breath

Tasting the bitterness of the cold

Breathing out, I am a dragon

Puffing out fumes of smoke

I remove my hands from the safety of my pockets

The cold bites at my fingertips

Like a tiger attacking its prey

I rub them together to create warmth

I catch a snowflake

It melts almost instantly

Before it does, I see its structure

No two snowflakes are ever the same

I gaze up at the hibernating trees

They huddle together in search of warmth

Hiding from the wind

Hiding from the snow

I watch the snow fall from the sky

Like pixie-dust being sprinkled by fairies

It’s magical

The Winter Spell
