We Could've Been...A Poem by Dark TowerWe should have been perfect But maybe neither of us really felt we deserved it We could have been perfect Weighed up our love But the balance was worthless Lying to ourselves About how we don't deserve a chance You point to God Like our feelings are not part of his plans But I fell too hard In my mind we link hands every night and dance And when it's over you disappear without another glance I'm in dark staring at my shaking hands Thinking to myself how much I'd give to hold you again You are beyond perfection In your arms I felt the presence of my best friend And when you left Our signals got crossed and the connection was dead But there 's a lingering sting And your voice is still my head Your smile outweighs all The most prominent feature that I can recall And how I do miss being being responsible for their existence Felt like God creating a star and watching it twinkling I don't want you to cry But you should regretful You let our hope die When we had so much potential You are dream forever beyond my reach But still so beautiful That a part of me constantly remains asleep DarkTower
