Raindrop

Raindrop

A Poem by Dark Tower

Raindrop

A billion tiny droplets
Picked up and dragged skyward
Hand selected
By the sun
And by God they are inspected
A billion droplets go up
But only a single raindrop comes down

I'm standing outside
For reasons I can not explain
The rain is soaking me
A coldness so intense it causes pain
I'm staring up at the heavens
I know not why
I feel that special is about to happen
I extend my hand palm pointed towards the sky

It is not long before I notice
A most extraordinary thing
I take but a moment to focus
Although the rain splatters on everything
Not a single drop touches my hand
I am amazed and terrified
And yet in the same place I continue to stand

I finally feel it
Something magical approaches
I see light in the distance It floats down from the sky
A raindrop so magnificent
It's light reflects in my eyes
I can tell this raindrop is the key to something significant

And when at last the drop comes down
It lands gracefully in my palm
A drop as unique as any before
Angelic in every way shape and form
I swore since then to never let her go
Her name is Gem And each day I tell her I love her so.
