Prayer For My Son

Prayer For My Son

A Poem by Dark Tower

My Boy

Cholani,
I'm so sorry
So sorry daddy let you down
Sorry daddy won't be there to watch you grow
And will never know
Just what makes you smile
I can see it in the twinkle of your innocent eyes
That you believe daddy will protect you
That daddy will be there
You believe all daddy's lies

But the lies he tells you are nothing
Compared to the ones he tells himself
Your life would be so much better without daddy there
I'm not giving you away
I'm giving you a better life in foster care
Better learn to wipe your own eyes
Because daddy won't be there
I know right now it may seem like I don't care but you're just scared
Well Im scared too
Because I'd reverse rotation of this earth if it meant that I could be with you

I so badly want to wipe your tears
I so badly want to be the shield between you and your fears
You may grow up fatherless
But know daddy loves you regardless.
