How It Must Seem

How It Must Seem

A Poem by Dark Tower

How It Must Seem

Oh                No
Look at that smile, you must be happy    My smile is fake, I'm crying inside
Oh                No
You're always laughing                           I just cry without tears
You're always so joyful, nothing keeps you down                           Inside I'm so fearful, I don't know how to get up
From where I'm standing, your life looks like a dream                     It's a nightmare
That only angels could make                  I wish I could wake

I wish we could switch
Your life seems so much better
Than mine

Your wife seems so happy                     Yes, but not with me
Your children are smiling                      Only because I'm not around
You have all the money in the world      But I've lost my soul
Your family is so warm                         They're only disguising the cold

I wish we could switch
Your life seems so much better
Than mine

But when you read between the line
You don't know the pain you'd find
Because when everything fades away
It was a waste of time.
