When Love Evolves

When Love Evolves

A Poem by Dark Tower

When Love Evolves

I'm looking at you

You're infuriating me

Every move you make

Every word you say

It's all just irritating me

This lude, rude, crude abuse

And all your twisted words

Are forming a noose

Which is hanging me from the top of this moral high ground

That we found. And even though we never say it out loud

We've hated each other for so long the rage has grown strong

That for us to even pretend that there's any love would be beyond wrong

But forever we go on

We insist on dragging this on

Because neither of us will take a step back and admit we're wrong

For each other

Like steel neck ties

We're stuck at each other throats

If you opened us both up and peaked inside

You'd see that not even a thousand lions could match our pride

You're that pain in my neck

And I'm that thorn in your side

I'm the sour to your sweet

You're the rain on my sunny day

We spend all our time praying that the other would fade away
