One Sided Love

One Sided Love

A Poem by Dark Tower

One Sided Love

A doomed love

Like that of a crow and a dove

They say lies end relationships

But I think its the truth that comes later that more often does

In life mirrored promised often become shattered dreams

As you realise the person you hold at night is not what they seem

You fight so hard to get everything back on track

They push you away

But you keeping come back

They walk away

You follow and beg them to stay

Because you love them and no other

Even though you know

Behind your back that they are loving another

You tell yourself its your fault

Cover yourself in blame by the handful

Until eventually that lovely feeling you once had

Feels like your hearts being crushed by an anvil

But you just keep telling yourself to see it from their angle

Somewhere between the sacrifices and kisses

You must have done something wrong

So you deserve this

You had this coming all along

Your friends and loved ones try to warn you

But you dont listen

You tell them you can make it work

You ignore all the complaints and jeers

Even though every night

They're with their loved ones

And you're having a candle lit dinner with your tears

Everytime you hear a car drive by

I pray thats them again

Soon you just give up and sip slowly on bottled oblivion

Finally you decide that you've had enough of this

Razor kisses your wrist

And you fall into the endless abyss
