LostA Poem by Dark TowerLost Sometimes I wonder if the fights are worth while But I know they are when I catch a glimpse of her smile Long ago do the days seem when her smiles were for me I still remember the warmth to me they’d bring A warmth now replaced by loves cruel sting I stare at the footprints of your shadow With so much longing In the embrace of your arms I felt true belonging. I’ll never understand what happened that night A moment of happiness A gust of a wind and it was lost from sight And suddenly it was just me Standing Staring at the space where you had just been. You have no idea the pain it caused me To watch you walk away from me And know that you weren’t coming back Oxygen left my body When I pictured you Enjoying the company of a man who was not me. If you could just hear my heartbeat You’d hear that my feelings are sincere You are my little piece of heaven I just don’t want you to turn to dust in my arms Bongani Armstrong Mhlangu © 2012 Dark TowerReviews
