I'll Love You ForeverA Poem by Dark TowerWhere they have gone?I’ll Love You Forever The sun shines on my face But I feel so cold I put a smile on my face and brace For our arguments of old I we will shout We’ll throw pictures and plates and cuss each other We’ll let our feeling out Then silent through supper Where are those honeymoon days? They seem so far away Like distant memories on ships slowly fading away What keeps us here At this table together? Is it love or is it fear? Where one goes one must follow Our I love yous are hollow No more warmth no meaning Another stray word flies forth like a bird And once again tempers hit the ceiling Was our love not true? When we first said I do I swore I loved you, Put a ring on your finger You said you loved me too. And I could think of Was how happy I was to spend the rest of my life With you Now years have past And the ones where were in love Are at the bottom of hour glass Like shooting a dove Our love is just wrong In the beginning it was easy But we were young And we were dumb To think that, we were meant to be I know times have been tough I know I said I’d be with you forever But it has been long enough Bongani Armstrong Mhlangu © 2012 Dark TowerReviews
