Awaiting FateA Chapter by DarkSorrowsChapter 4 Their stay in Rome passed by very quickly, Jake was almost done packing his suitcase when his phone rang. "This is Jake Walker." "Did you propose yet?" "Hello Josh." Jake sighed. "Not yet." "When are you going to propose then? Hopefully soon, for Audrie's sake. I say you should go get on one knee right now." Josh said." "Well, I guess I could. She's in the other room watching tv. I'll let you know how it goes!" Said Jake. "You better! I don't want to hear it from someone else!! Good luck!" Jake hung up, picked up his wallet and little box. "Audrie, I'm going to the store, I ran out of deodorant. Do you need anything?" He said as he slipped his room key back into his pocket. "Nope, but be back soon. I ordered lunch to be brought up." She smiled. "Sounds great! Be back soon." As soon as Jake stepped out into the street, he quickly went across the road to buy a dozen of red roses. He took a few deep breaths, preparing his heart and mind for his proposal. Jake put the flowers behind his back before he stepped inside. "Audrie?" He said and she appeared after a moment. "These are for you." She smiled. "Oh, thank you!" Audrie sniffed them as Jake began to speak. "Audrie Leah Duke, we met in high school. We became great friends, crushes, boyfriend and girlfriend for, four wonderful years. You are the love of my life, I cannot imagine my life without you in it." He got down on one knee. "So, I have one question for you. Will you marry me?" Jake took out the small box, opened it up to show the beautiful ring. "Yes. Yes, yes, yes." She watched him slide the diamond ring on her left finger. Clocks stopped ticking, she marveled at how the pure silver ring fit on her finger, how good it felt to be engaged to the man she loved for years, now was sewn to her heart forever and was never to be severed. As their last day passed by, Audrie couldn't keep her eyes off her beautiful ring. She caressed it with her fingers, delicately feeling each diamond. "I guess I did well?" Jake came into the hotel kitchen with a warm smile. "Darling, it's perfect." She smiled. "I'm glad." He smiled back.
