Setting Me Free

Setting Me Free

A Poem by DarkShines

I know that you're here

Hiding from me

Those half-truthful tears

All I can see

Those accusing whispers

Setting me free

You're heart's on fire

Like it was meant to be

Just like it was meant to be

If I wanted you to burn

It would begin

And all the screaming couldn't help you

Until I cleansed your sin

Look at me with those sad eyes

And know that love has died

The smoke begins to clear

And you're still here

Through the mask

Showing no fear

You rise from the ashes

My heart wants to flee

Your soul is on fire

Like it was meant to be

Just like it was meant to be

If I wanted you to burn

It would begin

And all the screaming couldn't help you

Until I cleansed your sin

Look at me with those sad eyes

And know that love has died

If I wanted you to burn

I would again

The screaming still won't help you

Can't shake your heavy sin

Look at me with those sad eyes

And know our love has died

Know our love has died
