Paradise Comes At A PriceA Poem by DarkShinesNot about me, or anyone I know. The story just works with my original Idea. Each stanza incorporates a line from a track from the Muse album Origin of Symmetry and binds the story together in my mindThe record keeps turnin' “Give me the peace and joy...” Sitting in my chair Your broken little toy
Sun sets through the cracks in the blinds “Peace will arise, and tear us apart...” The light catching the smoke From the smoldering ashes of my heart
Cigarette wilts, forgotten in my hand “Your golden lies feed my role...” I don't know how long it's been How long this love has taken it's tole
Dog's lookin' at me across the room “The underneath's no big surprise...” He doesn't understand my pain He doesn't understand, but he tries
Plants all sagging and half-dead “Erase all the memories, they'll only bring us pain...” Figure my home should reflect me Dragging all these feelings by a flimsy chain
Maybe tomorrow will be better “Megaphone screaming my name...” Or maybe I'll keep falling back in the trap Round after round of the same game
I wish I could make you feel “And your innocence I will consume...” The way you make me feel But that black soul is immune
Maybe tomorrow will be better “Paradise comes at a price...” But maybe, just maybe No change will have to suffice © 2014 DarkShines |
