Life's Gone By

Life's Gone By

A Poem by DarkShines

Every morning waking up

Don't know my name

No don't know my name

Gretta making coffee

In the broken old pot

Blind old dog

Lookin' like he forgot

Roof's leaking

Drops on my face

I could move if I cared

But it's not my place

Life's gone by

So long, so slow

What tomorrow will be like

I cannot know

But I can guess

Lying in my stale death bed

Trying not to speak

She tends to my every need, my darling

Neither of us any dreams left to seek

What tomorrow will be like

I cannot know

But more and more

I go with the flow

The clouds dried up

Sea's on fire

Or maybe it's all the same

But this old mind's a liar

I lie in bed

Soup down my shirt

Can't remember my family

Can't remember those I've hurt

But tomorrow I'll forget again

Waking up every morning

Don't know my name

No don't know my name

This is a really beautifully written poem.
I love the wording and how you keep us guessing until the end.
Can't wait to read more from you :)
Really lovely job!
