Clouds Roll In

Clouds Roll In

A Poem by DarkShines

The clouds roll in

The rain on the windows

The light bows out

And lets the cold night begin

I sit on the bed

Head pressed to the glass

The tapping of the raindrops

Echo louder than the dead

It's been a hard year

So many lost and so little gained

My life stands on this far away edge

And I'm crippled with fear

Like I'm not good enough

To do what I want

“You'll never make it kid”

I never thought it'd be this tough

But sometimes the hill isn't so steep

Sometimes I'm supported

By a beautiful select few

Whom I hope to keep

And the new one, over the hill I see

I forget my troubles when she speaks

I don't know how it will go

But I'm eager to see

I see the world through a cynical eye

But every now and again

I'm shown how wrong I am

And I wonder why

“If all our days are numbered,

Then why do I keep counting?”

I hear the music say

In a dream half remembered

I have to learn to let go of the fear

Embrace that my path is mine to carve

Get up and run to meet

A future that draws near
