Shadow Puppets

Shadow Puppets

A Poem by DarkShines

I saw the devil in my sleep

He had your eyes

He leaned in and whispered

Told me love never dies

And that's my curse

Shadows dance along the wall

Acting out my pain inside

Those ragged puppets

Broken and crying to the sky

And the night drags on

And all the lights they fade away

And in the dark corner I sit

And in the dark corner I stay

The devil came back last night

He had your scent

He leaned in and whispered

Told me my world was gonna end

But what if it already had?

I'm the ghost in your sheets

And you can feel my chill

Though you'll never call my name

I can't help but love you still

All the secrets and feelings

Weighing me down like an anchor

Dragging me further down into the dark

And you'll never be my savior

The devil stopped in for one last drink tonight

He came to me as you

He leaned in and whispered

“Last chance, what will you do?”

So I walked away
