The First Spring Flower

The First Spring Flower

A Poem by Elizabeth

You're the sunset that drenched me in orange
The hues that bloomed my monochrome blues
Lavenders, violets, springtimes,
a bud, so delicate amidst the thorns, ephemeral
like all pretty things in their prime

July slipped away, bringing the August rains
Grey skies, cool winds murmur secrets untold
Your touch of midas, turns it all to gold
The ascension of persephone, brings an end to the winter
And I blossom like a flower, an emerging victor.

Wonderful way to tie in the warmth and color of the sunset and season and someone else to the idea of personal growth out of that with the blossom and the change of seasons. Your imagery is sharp and the metaphor seems to really hit home and drew me into the poem. Good length too, a compact idea in two stanzas. Well done.
